Alcohol is no more harmful than marijuana unless it is abused.

If you abuse any poison, (because that's what alcohol is POISON), then you stand to suffer consequences. The same goes for marijuana or any drug.

Everyone reacts to addiction differently, and I'm sure there are people who steal to get money to buy marijuana if they are dependent.

Answer to A:

Right now we have a drug war on our southern border that deals with marijuana trafficking as well as cocaine and meth.

So you could say that marijuana does involve a level of violent crime which includes murder and kidnapping that comes with trafficking in that drug.

Not everyone who drinks likes marijuana.

People like what they like, don't expect it to change if marijuana is more available.

Some people don't like marijuana and prefer to drink.

Legalizing it will simply give people another option for turning their brains to cheese, not necessarily create more potheads.

Marijuana doesn't cause that "drug war" the prohibition of marijuana causes that drug war. Just as alcohol didn't cause the mob wars in the 20's, prohibition caused that.

I disagree.

There is no drug war in Europe. And it's illegal in many nations there.

We have a drug war because of who controls the distribution.

The drug cartels cause the drug wars because they want total control over distribution.

The same with prohibition.

So what? After decades in increased pot use in this country the rate of schizophrenia has not gone up.

No prohibition = no drug cartels. Therefore no war and no violence. The effects of the drug do not cause people to be violent, the effects of prohibition are causing the violence over a market (i.e $$$$$$) that would switch to a legal, legitimate, revenue-producing farm situation instead of a drug cartel war situation, if marijuana was legalized.
