13-year-old boy shot again and again in West Pullman (http://www.suntimes.com/news/24-7/2546878,pullman-shooting-teen-dies-072910.article - broken link)
I once heard someone say that we need to treat gang members like terrorists and I agree. It's ridiculous that people are too afraid to talk.
* Can everyone refrain from using the location of this crime to make political jabs. I would like to talk about gang violence and how it's ruining our country.

Do you want to talk about gangs in general, gangs in this location or the gang this 13 yr old was a part of?

This 13 year old wasn't part of a gang. He was an 8th grader riding his bike when he was shot.
I would like to talk about gang violence in the US; not specifically this incident, but this incident and so many others like it made me want to start a thread about it simply because this is something that affects our country.
I feel we should have zero tolerance for anyone involved in gang related activities, be they drugs or violence.

I don't see what relevance your 2nd sentence has with your first. Are you trying to say that an 8th grader on a bike can't be in a gang? The kid was shot execution style. This was not a random killing, he was targeted for a specific reason. Wonder what it was.

The article stated that whoever they were after got the wrong kid. That's what the police said.

Yes this 13year old was a part of a gang. Sorry if you don't know this or realize it, but yes, he was a GD (Gangster Disciples).
The thing is sometimes someone being involved in gangs and the reasonings behind it are not so cut and dry. This is especially true of places such as the neighborhood this article is talking about.
Plus when talking about gang violence, there is more to it, then just the fact that they are gang members. I will take this article for example, you can go 5 miles to the west of this neighborhood and there are just as many gangs, but the violence is no where close to the same.

.
Can you provide evidence of this? I did several searches before i posted the thread and none of them indicated that he was in a gang.
