My uncle owned barrooms at one time and a guy walked in, sat down and ordered a drink. The bartender served him the drink and the guy reached in his pocket to pay but discharged a gun and shot through his own leg.
Even though the guy went to jail for having a gun in a bar he sued my uncle for getting hurt in his bar.
My uncle's insurance settled out of court and gave this guy $250K. They told my uncle that it was cheaper to settle than to go through a long court battle and they would not win anyway.
