Why the assumption of illegality?

I'll withhold judgement on Iran for the moment and say that I find it quite enjoyable to watch Obama subtly admit, through is actions and his policies, that George W. Bush is the Perfect War-Time Mentor.

Irony is beautiful! I'm laughing profusely at the liberal left for their inability to see the mess they got themselves into in November 2008!

We went in without UN approval. Rumsfeld and bush were lying up and down "They have MWD's and we know where they are" The UN inspectors found nothing. The bush admin lied saying saddam and iraq had ties to al-qaeda which they did not,..

Default So what?

They'd damn well better have plans for an attack on Iran. That's one of the things we pay the military for - contingency plans for different scenarios.

However, the linked article doesn't really support the idea that a strike on Iraq is about to happen or even moving towards the top of the list of options.

(As for legality or illegality of Iraq, that's water under the bridge as far as I'm concerned. Hell, without defining whether we're talking international or US law, there's no answering the question. I condemn that war on different grounds: It wasn't necessary. You go to war when you have to, not when you want to. It's an ethical thing.)

we didnt need UN approval, number one, number two the UN did pass a resolution that allowed us to go in, and congress authorized the use of force.

now why did we not need UN approval you ask? a very good question, and the answer is very simple, there was NEVER a peace treaty signed between iraq and the coalition after the gulf war, thus a state of war still existed between the coalition and iraq. part of the cease fire agreement was allowing UN inspectors unfettered access to all of iraqi bases and government installations for inspection, and that unfettered access was never given. also there were two UN sanctioned no fly zones set up in iraq to be patrolled by coalition aircraft, and the iraqis constantly attacked coalition aircraft legally patrolling the no fly zone, an overt act of war, again a reason that we didnt need UN approval.

If you look up Clinton's speech six weeks before he left office, you will find that he and every leftist in the country said we would have to go to Iraq...good youtube of Kennedy, Kerry, Clinton they were all itching to go until it became a reason to use against Bush...my how they forget...

The hell with the UN.

We need to get out of the UN and make our own decisions.

Now explain what we did that was actually illegal?

So Joe Biden and Hillary both voted to send our troops in war in Iraq, should they just resign since they voted for the illegal war of yours?

This war was voted on by our congress. They could have voted against it.

Biden has said it was necessary, he is your VP ya know and suppose to be your parties foreign guru.

So if Obama plans on attacking Iran, what will be the reason?

Will he go to congress and do it legally or will he just attack without a congressional vote?

Will he go to the UN and ask for their ok like you believe Bush should have?

Since when does the UN rule over our laws?

* Watch the left wing hypocrites at work on this baby if this does happen.

The no-fly zones were not sanctioned by the UN.
