Well, what is with those names? I've never heard of, much less know anybody named "Track," "Trig," or "Piper." Unique, odd, funny, whatever. All these are things that it is appropriate to note, and yes, chuckle about when you first hear them.
Like she said when she learned the names for the first time, "What's is with these names?"
Now if you say that about "Sasha" or "Malia," what is it about those names that is odd or
unique? People were comparing the two sets of names, when they are not comparable. That's my point.
I've known a few kids named "Piper". I work in a pediatrician's office. We do at times chuckle about some of our patient's names.
This is nothing new. The fact that the "major news" organizations are packed with those that continually pump out the progressive and liberal agendas is an accepted fact with anyone except the most Leftist in this country. Couric is just a puppet on a string. It is also accepted that to control a people you must control their information sources. It is quite evident that reading these boards (which I only started doing a few days ago) that many swallow this leftist propaganda hook, line, and sinker! They are herded like the sheep that they are and are unable to think objectively or in an independant manner. They spout back the pablum that the US press has fed them for 40 years.
I am not saying that this Youtube clip is news ... because it isn't. That doesn't change my assessment of most of the television and a lot of the major print media in the US. This clip just shows Couric as the condescending person that she is ... a mirror of her character.
As someone who has spend years in the news room, we laugh at just about everything and everybody, no matter what political party they might represent. Sports are even worst. It happens that way at all networks including those who are fair and balanced.
If anything, this is just more proof they were set out to get from day one. They didnt focus on the good things she had done, no, they focused on all the "weird" things like moose burgers, her kids names, etc.

I would just like to point out that the President and his wife gave their children names that are, um, names normally given to people, not inanimate objects that were nearby or something. The Palin kids' names are unusual. The President's kids' names are not. You get the impression Palin was looking out the window at the the hospital when she was asked what to put on the birth certificate. And she answered by naming whatever object was there: a plane (Piper), a tree (Willow), a bay (Bristol), a track (Track) etc. I am rather confident, that Palin has no clue how to do trigonometry, but concede she may have heard of it.
So, yes, "making fun" of somewhat common names given to thousands and thousands of babies (Sasha and Malia) is not the same as noting that the Palin names are odd. They are, after all, odd names for kids. Maybe not Bristol, but the other ones...
So what, Indians do that all the time. Are you putting Indians down? Have you seen a list of kids names now a days? You will see all kinds of weird names. The weirder the better it seems.
Couric and all the women anchors must have been pea green with jealousy. It sure showed. LOL
Oh, not this jealousy crap again! Katie Couric is better looking and has more money than Sarah Palin, and she is a mother herself (the usual things people are accused of being jealous of Sarah for). In fact, most women anchors are all of the above.
BUT she would sure like to have the power to become VP of the US. Power, power, power is the name of the game.
