A federal judge in San Francisco decided today that gays and lesbians have a constitutional right to marry, striking down Proposition 8, the voter approved ballot measure that banned same-sex unions.
The court ruling was certainly predictable and is just another indicator that gay marriage will become a national right state by state. People can not vote on the human rights of others and California voters should be ashamed for their vote two years ago [even though it was a close vote].
Ah, that's why the Constitution provides protections for minorities against the tyranny of the majority. Which is surprising as often as you use that line.
Vaughn Walker rules: “Proposition 8 fails to advance any rational basis in singling out gay men and lesbians for denial of a marriage license.” Ruling enjoins enforcement of California’s Proposition 8.

You don't get to speak for everyone. People voted in a legal election, and they voted the way they wanted to vote. If you think this ruling is an indicator of anything, you're wrong.
It's one person's opinion...One person who thinks their opinion is more valid than everyone who voted another way. In other words, they think the same way you do, only they have some clout. Too bad for you it doesn't end there.
So, ONE judge gets to nullify the will of the people of California.
Outrageous.
This is liberal judicial activism at it's core.
there will be an appeal, but the circuit they are in is quite libby, so it will be upheld.
