Supreme Court Justices with no prior judicial experience

And FYI, these are only 9 of the 40 Justices out of 111, who had no judicial experience before serving on the Supreme Court.

  • Louis Brandeis (Associate Justice, 1916 - 1939): Justice Brandeis was nominated by President Woodrow Wilson.
  • Charles Evans Hughes (1910-1916; 1930-1941): Justice Hughes was nominated by President Taft.
  • Felix Frankfurter (1939-1962): Justice Frankfurter was nominated by President Franklin Roosevelt.
  • Earl Warren (Chief Justice, Supreme Court 1953 – 1969): Justice Warren was nominated by President Eisenhower.
  • Hugo Black (Associate Justice, 1937 – 1971): Justice Black was nominated by President Roosevelt.
  • Lewis Powell Jr. (1972-1987): Justice Powell was nominated President Richard Nixon.
  • Byron White (Associate Justice 1962 – 1993): Justice White was nominated by President John F. Kennedy.
  • William Rehnquist (1986 – 2005): Justice Rehnquist was nominated by President Richard Nixon.
  • George Sutherland (1922-1938): Justice Sutherland was nominated by President Warren G. Harding.

Lots of sour grapes from the right today. Squeeze them, ferment them, and bottle a fine white whine.

I'm a foreign person? Ha! It never ceases to amaze me all the things I'm credited with being and doing; controlling the media, the banks and Hollywood, and now in line to take over the Supreme Court. Woo Hoo -- Go Jews!

Not contradictory, just two different reasons presented. Another would be her incorrect interpretation of the law in keeping military recruiters off the Harvard campus. That alone shows her legal judgment is faulty.
