Mostly because Republicans don't care about the deficit and never have. They'll use it to make cheap political points among uninformed people but the basic fact is Republicans ALWAYS drive the deficit higher and higher and worse they make retarded and illogical claims knowing they're lying and that the net result will be a sky high deficit. I'm thinking specifically about the claim that "tax cuts pay for themselves" which Republicans have been making since 1980. It's just a big lie.

A great article by the Financial Times of London about why Republicans are full of it and why they always make the deficit worse.

Back then, their rallying cry was "deficits don't matter" articulated by then-Vice President Dick Cheney. This "deficits don't matter" philosophy gave us two wars that were not paid for -- and there are estimates that the Iraq War alone will end up costing some $3 trillion, $700 billion in tax breaks to the richest one percent, a $400 billion unpaid for prescription drug program written by the pharmaceutical industry, and a $700 billion bailout of Wall Street.

But under President Obama, Republicans have seemingly taken a 180-degree turn. Now, apparently, deficits do matter. Now, they say we can't afford to extend unemployment insurance to two million Americans who lost their jobs in the worst recession in modern history. And, they say we can't create new jobs by rebuilding our crumbling infrastructure or transforming our energy system.

And the Republican hypocrisy is about to advance to a whole new level. In the name of "fiscal responsibility" they are opposing virtually every effort to help the middle class and working families of our country. But, when it comes to the needs of millionaire and billionaire families, they have no problem reducing revenue by hundreds of billions of dollars. In other words, they are deficit hawks when it comes to the needs of ordinary people, but they are big spenders when it comes to the needs of the rich.

Sen. Bernie Sanders: Why Do Republicans Want to Raise the Deficit?
As you know, a president cannot spend a single penny of our collective money. They can only approve or disapprove of what congress puts on their desk.

Clinton never had a surplus, only a projected surplus based on revenues that were calculated during the dotcom bubble. But nevertheless, our country was getting in better shape fiscally. And EVERY single penny spent and EVERY single cut made after 1994 was because a Republican congress put it on his desk. You cannot credit Clinton without crediting the Republican held congress.

Now we find ourselves with soaring deficits that began in the early Bush years, but soared WAY FASTER from 2006 to present. Part of that was with a Dem congress, Rep president, the worst of it has come under a Dem congress with HUGE majorities and a Dem president. You cannot blame the Reps without putting a lot of blame on the Dems at the same time.

So how about it? Do Republicans have an answer for that?
How come it didn't matter & now it does?
Bushs deficit with a Republican Congress in 2007 was about $150B. What is it now?

Ouch, that has to hurt for liberals to look at. It destroys all the lies they have held so dear for so long.

It has me wonder how the Democratic party managed to brain wash so many individuals in society into ignoring reality and blaming the party not even in office

Its that or there are so many dumb Democrats in america who just cant understand basic accounting and economic principles, which I guess is possible, I just never realised they were this obvious about it and there were so many of them who just dont have a clue..
