Today i saw Obama taking credit for Fords success saying he saved our auto industry and the American made brand name? What...i buy Ford because they make what i like, are dependable and they also didn't take taxpayer money.I have owned 3 Fords and have no complaints and will buy a new Ford in the near future. They been successful way before Obama took office and he would make a good car sales man... he is just tooting his own horn again as usual...he is good at taking something for a spin...promises all the extras that you do not want.Do not even get me started on that G.overnment M.otors Volt what a joke....

i can kind of see that bailing out gm and chrysler might have had a positive effect on ford, but it is limited. ford, gm, chrysler, and even foreign makes built in this country share parts suppliers, and losing gm and chrysler would have hurt those suppliers. in the end however, those suppliers would have been supported by the other automakers, and a few even bought up by them, to keep them in business. the problem that obama has though is that ford was turning itself around before the countries financial problems hit, and was well positioned to survive until things got better.

Ford would have been much more successful had GM/Chrysler been allowed to fail. So, the answer is NO to the OP's question.

Obama cannot take credit for anything related to Ford.

It was the free market, nothing less, nothing more.

In less than 10 years, Ford has vastly improved their quality. The auto bailouts of the other two was just icing on the cake.

The bailout interfered with the "free market".

Agree about Ford increasing the quality of their product and shrinking the effect of bloated union contracts by offering thousands of employees buyouts in exchange for early retirement. It has served Ford well.

Obama's takeover of GM did help Ford. There are many of us who will NEVER own another GM car as long as the unions and the federal government control the company.

Like someone else said before,..."I'll walk and push a Ford before i'll buy a GM or Chrysler product".

This empty-suited jackass we have in the Oval Office will take credit for ANYTHING positive, but blame everyone else for the negatives. SOP for this POS.

He should also take credit for Toyota, Honda and the rest of the foreign auto makers doing business in the US for not going under either.

Heck, he should take credit for saving the entire industry worldwide !
