The fire started when soldiers from the military base near Ikizce indiscriminately launched missiles into wooded areas in Cudi mountain," shepherd Cem Guney explains. "Soldiers helped us subdue the flames the first day, but since then they've done nothing."

"We're sinking as time goes on," Ikizce village elder Baver Senlik tells IPS. "Everyday it spreads, grows, becomes more problematic," he says. The forest fire has been burning more than a week now.

The Turkish army, which is armed by the U.S. and some European countries, claims that the inferno started following clashes between them and the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK), the leftist insurgency which demands greater rights and freedoms for Kurds. Villagers dispute this, saying there's actually no fighting in the area.

And isn't it wonderful that we're bombing the Kurds (via Turkey), who supported our invasion of Iraq because they hated Saddam? They are mostly shepherds and farmers.

It isn't just us, either. Iran is bombing northern Iraq also. And sometimes the bombs that are coming from Iran are the bombs that Turkey was using, so some inside little sales deals are going on, too. Of course it's Turkey we're going to help and provide coordinates and intelligence to, because we like them better than we like Iran, this year anyway.

Was just talking about this on Saturday at a party. Someone I know is going to northern Iraq in October with a group called Christian Peacemakers. Their motto is "Getting in the way". He has to make up a living will before he goes and also make the Christian Peacemakers organization his medical proxy, just in case.

The US-supported Turks gas the Kurds and there is complete silence in the world.

We gave Saddam the weapons to put down those Kurdish uprisings while Stormin' Normin looked the other way back then to. But it all goes back much farther than that.

KNC-NA and HLP Meeting, Press Release

Here is the case:
561 U.*S. ____ (2010)

But Turkey doesn't see it like that. They don't remember Ataturk. Not this next generation up and coming. They only see their own murdered. They see this:

Should Turkey Declare War on Iraq?
