Absolutely. This change is killing us. I do disagree- I'm no tea partier. I'm a libertarian and Goldwater conservative. I think the 'tea party' movement has been co-opted by the neo conservatives, who I despise almost as much as Democrats.

Youv'e got me confused. Your first post says claims no federal tax dollars go to streets, roads, schools etc.

I submit that is a false claim.

You then say fed tax dollars DO go to schools.

Straighten me out, please.

Thank you for your praise of President Georg W. Bush. I'm glad you finally agree.
Do not put words in my mouth. Harvard is a private school, for one thing. I was talking about K-12, for another. This has nothing to do with George W. Bush.

My very favorite Tea Party sign says "Cut taxes, not defense". It shows what a shallow understanding of the issues some TPers have.

Ah, the good old free market. As if kids should be treated like widgets, to be sold. Don't all kids deserve good schools? Or do just some of them deserve that? If their parents don't have enough money to relocate to these "good" neighborhoods, should they get a mediocre education?

8.3% of K-12 spending is federal money. The other 91.7% is state and local money. The federal contribution to education is minimal.

I suggest that he lookup Communtiy block grant programs which is federal money going to the sate and local government. We will be much better offf when sates and local governamnt have to tax to pay for those cost as local taxpayers will have to decide if they want to pay in cost in tax increrases. As it is much of it is wasted as local and sate governamnts aplly for any grants avilacle needed projects or not.

Are you admitting that your original post, "no federal tax dollars go to streets, roads, schools etc', was wrong?

I agree. The fed is in way to many aspects of our lives.

They "give" money back to the states in the form of bribery. If you don't do as they wish you will not get funds. There is always strings attached.

I remember when the feds wanted to reduce all highways to a max of 55 mph. Many wetern states protested. The feds thretened them with If you don't reduce your speed limits to 55 we will not give you any transporation money.

No one 'deserves' a free education or anything else. That's where you socialists are so deluded. All of us have to work- and after what the GOP and the Democrats have done- work ALOT HARDER for whatever we want. You are correct. If a kids' parents don't work, they get a mediocre education. One only values what one works for.

And yes I am a Christian and I do know what I'm talking about.
So the vast amounts of tax dollars paid out in the form of foreign aid helps to keep our roads and schools in prime shape?
What about the billions wasted in pork spending?
What about the money wasted to keep Rangel driving a leased caddy?
As I understand it the Tea party isn't against taxes or public spending. They are against blatant waste.
I am not a tea party member but I do agree with controling Gov spending.
Pay as you go as done today is a joke.
Balanced budget? When are we going to do that?
Now this is an extremely partisan thread. Only the republicans favor tax cuts and balanced budget? Only republicans are asking for fiscal responsibility?
Last time I checked neither party seemed able to deliver on these issues.
