ABOARD THE USS GEORGE WASHINGTON – Cold War enemies the United States and Vietnam demonstrated their blossoming military relations Sunday as a U.S. nuclear supercarrier cruised in waters off the Southeast Asian nation's coast — sending a message that China is not the region's only big player.

The visit comes 35 years after the Vietnam War as Washington and Hanoi are cozying up in a number of areas, from negotiating a controversial deal to share civilian nuclear fuel and technology to agreeing that China needs to work with its neighbors to resolve territorial claims in the South China Sea.

And just like all the other nations we fought and made friends they will take our knowledge and eventually turn their back and kick us in the tukis.

The South China Sea covers a phenomenal amount of petroleum and natural gas. The western oil companies would like the exploitation of these deposits to remain under their control to prevent a future glut on the controlled market. China is not a member of the grand oil Cartel that manages the world’s oil production to maintain a very profitable price without limiting demand. If China develops these deposits for their domestic use they will not have to pay OPEC prices and will become even more competitive on the world’s market.

I do not think China will be frightened by our boat show in their pond. China will develop these oil resources outside of OPEC and everyone will benefit except the current monopolists.
