Companies using criminal records or bad credit reports to screen out job applicants might run afoul of anti-discrimination laws as the government steps up scrutiny of hiring policies that can hurt blacks and Hispanics.
You have got to be kidding me. Have things gotten that bad that the federal government is going to force private businesses to hire known criminals in order to meet racial quotas? What kind of idiots are running this show? Oh wait, never mind...
It is to hard for someone that has a record to find a decent job and even a decent place to live that many goes back to breaking the law.
Most people do NOT want to be locked up but some are left with what choice do they really have.
I dont think a child molester should be able to work at any school, daycare but the rest needs to be able to rejoin society
Doing time is suppose to be their payment to society. When they get out their debt is paid. Well in our system its not. They pay for the rest of their life.
While I do disagree with blanket discrimination against those with criminal or bad credit records, I think it's a big stretch to call it racial discrimination. It's not the employers' fault that the justice system prosecutes a disproportionate amount of minorities.
Employment apps ask if you have a criminal record..you say Yes or No.
Why shouldn't they do that background check to verify ?
Do you want a convicted rapist working with you as the only 2 folks to close the store at 1AM ?
Only no one knows it because he lied on his app and the employer can't verify ?
You make the choice, you do the crime, you do the time and suffer the consequences.
Life is not fair but everyone is given the choice as to which path to walk.
Until all folks with no criminal record have jobs I don't give a hoot about anyone else.
