It appears that billions of our TARP money went to foreign banks but failed to save those nations just as it didn't us. Yes, three banks in Europe got $28+ billion through the $182 billion that went to AIG. I wonder why we had to save those other banks outside the US before we saved our own nation. I guess there is something that progressives know that we just don't.

You might want to thank your President Bush for TARP.

Obama supported it.

Thank every Representative and Senator that voted for the blank check that is TARP with no rules or regulations on what is done with the money.

Obama had gotten his TARP II and is currently trying to get TARP III.

Call you representatives and stop the insanity. Cut up their credit cards and shredd the check book.

For some reason I didn't see any president's name mentioned in that article. Nobody here has done so and along you come with the blame Bush crap.

Ah, why do you suppose AIG was going under? Could it be that it was because it owed money to foreign banks and that one of the ways you stay in business is to pay off those debts?

Obviously you still think that banks operate like Baily Bros. Building & Loan? Sorry to break this to you, but we live in an age where the interconnectedness of financial institutions extends beyond Bedford Falls.

Actually, it was Treasury Secretary Paulson with some amendments by the Congress. If you will recall even Sarah Palin expressed a need to pass TARP.
