In some ways in must be very easy to be a conservative politician in the USA, all one has to do is rant on about god,( make that a xtian god) guns and gays and the vast majority of so called conservative voters will rush to the polling booth.
And the amusing part is they will vote against their own interests, tell them it was a gods plan to ship manufacturing jobs offshore and they will eagerly vote for the person telling them that rubbish.
Just how much reasoning and logic does the average US conservative voter use ?

Very little. Most republicans simply vote whoever has the (R) next to their name and defend them to the bitter end, no matter how extreme or hypocritical their views are. It's a shame they don't take a more independent or democratic view and vote for who is best qualified for the position, regardless of party instead of which republican has the most extreme, hate filled views.

It must be equally easy to be a Progressive Democrat poster on CD or politician. All one has to do is attack religious beliefs of others, spout falsehoods, promote the murder of the unborn, extoll the myths of spending other people's money (taxes) to buy votes from the nation's poor while pigeon-holing them into generational welfare, condone social behaviors that have been historically been considered degenerative, vile, and lacking in personal responsibility. Rather than raising the bar Progressive Democrat posters on CD and politicians only have to lower it so that there is no exceptionalism but in its place only parity.

Reasoning and logic? Only 2 of the things that elude the left consistently
18 ways to be a "logical" liberal
1. You have to be against capital punishment, but support abortion on demand.
2. You have to believe that businesses create oppression and governments create prosperity.
3. You have to believe that guns in the hands of law-abiding citizens are more of a threat than U.S. nuclear weapons technology in the hands of Iran or Chinese and North Korean communists.
4. You have to believe that there was no art before federal funding.
5. You have to believe that global temperatures are less affected by cyclical changes in the earth's climate and more affected by soccer moms driving SUV's.
6. You have to believe that gender roles are artificial, but being homosexual is natural.
7. You have to believe that the AIDS virus is spread by a lack of federal funding.
8. You have to believe that the same teacher who can't teach 4th-g! raders how to read is somehow qualified to teach those same kids about sex.
10. You have to believe that self-esteem is more important than actually doing something to earn it.
11. You have to believe that Mel Gibson spent $25 million of his own money to make "The Passion of the Christ" for financial gain only.
12. You have to believe the NRA is bad because it supports certain parts of the Constitution, while the ACLU is good because it supports certain parts of the Constitution.
13. You have to believe that taxes are too low, but ATM fees are too high.
14. You have to believe that Margaret Sanger and Gloria Steinem are more important to American history than Thomas Jefferson, Gen. Robert E. Lee, and Thomas Edison.
15. You have to believe that standardized tests are racist, but racial quotas and set-asides are not.
16. You have to believe that the only reason socialism hasn't worked anywhere it's been tried is because the right! people haven't been in charge.
17. You have to believe that homosexual parades displaying drag queens and transvestites should be constitutionally protected, and manger scenes at Christmas should be illegal.
18. You have to believe that this message is a part of a vast, right-wing conspiracy.

Nope, just the truth as I see it courtesy of the impressions left by liberal Progressive CD posters. Y'all and your posts have been quite an education. Keep up the good work. Keep touting the evils of your ideology so everyone may see libreral Progressives for what they are.

You have a valid point that it does require a greater use of the mind for liberals to believe the things they believe than conservatives because liberals have to continually rationalize away the painfully obvious truth.
You are trying to assert that American manufacturing jobs have been shuttled away by greedy Republicans to third world nations, yet it is Democrats who are so penny wise and pound foolish as to defend our 35% corporate tax rate (second highest in the world), greedy unions and endless regulation. Price shifting to avoid our higher tax rates by internationals costs us revenue. Profitable operations being done in low-tax nations while money losing operations being shifted here cost us jobs.
It takes a lot of misguided thought to dismiss the obvious in favor of a more convenient fairytale about conservatives being told to ship jobs overseas. But to answer your question, it takes very little reasoning to believe what is obviously true. High taxes discourage investment. Regulations make operating a manufacturing facility difficult in the US and the lack of regulations make other nations attractive. Greedy unions raise the cost of labor insuring manufactures will look elsewhere when building new plants. This is all quite obvious and nothing that really has to be reasoned out. See, the truth is usually a simple matter. BS is complicated.
