hard to tell.
You call him dirty harry but you like his opinion on this one, very selective I hope you agree with him on some other issues. Its nice to see a party with two sides and differing opnions maybe you could produce a republican that is pro mosque that stepped away from the constant right wing rhetoric. I would really like to give that 70 % a test on the detals of the issue.

Whether you allow the new building or not they will continue to worship in that building, it has been in use since July of last year. Did you or any of the other politicians have any issues last year or did you just come to life. By the way its a community center and a mosque but repeating that point is becoming tiresome.

What would you have stated if you were president?

What Obama says is entirely correct.

He's not supporting the Muslim center per say, just the legality of the situation.

They purchased the land.

They can put whatever they want on said land as long as it doesn't break any laws.

The ethics of such can be debated to no end, but hte legality of hte situation is solid.

Agreed. First it is a mosque, then it is a community center, next it is a cultural center.....

First it was the Cordoba Project, now it is Park 51......

The constant re-naming trying to shift forms when it really is all the same is an Alinsky tactic.

Please, show where this was meant to be anything but a community center.

Well, the publication The Muslim Observer calls it a Mosque. Whose word should we take?

There's a mosque inside the community center.

Just like there's a synogauge inside of the jewish community center down the street from myself.

Again:

Prove that it was originally intended to be a mosque and nothing else.

I personally don't care if they call it a mosque, a community center, a funzone, etc. It is a religious institution proposed/established by a religious organization.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: if they own the land, the zoning allows it, have obtained all of the necessary land use and construction entitlements from the applicable governing jurisdiction, and operate within the parameters established by the entitlement approvals, then there is very little, if any, legal basis for halting the project.
