I don't think you've been following along. It was OK for Bush to take vacations; it was OK for Clinton to take vacations (so says one RW), but it's not OK for Obama to take a vacation?????? And yet, it's not about Obama? If you can make excuses for the others with the old "that's different" mantra, it's hatred for Obama.
it is heightened awareness now that obama is in office, and i dont like the to play the race card, but i am telling it as it is.
many white americans before obama was elected paid little attention to the presidency and current events with the president. ever since obama was elected, there has been a heightened sense of awareness of what he does at all times, people pay more attention to him and treat him almost like a celebrity.
for example, posters like the op had no idea about vacation time of other presidents, but they knew everything about every obama vacation. other posters had no idea about past presidents talking to kids in the classroom, yet many whites called it indoctrination when obama did it.
list goes on and on and on.
this is simple this time. this is about race.
for better or for worse, obama being black has elevated the following of america in general to the presidency and the daily events in the presidents life.
and it didnt just peak whites interest, it also peaked black interest.
black being much more favorable, white being much more critical.
black being favorable when they shouldn't, whites being critical when they shouldn't, like the above OP with this meaningless topic.
we pay attention now more then ever because of obama. that's up to you whether to decide if its for the better or the worse. the reason though is race.
I heard a talk radio host discussing this the other day:
Bush's "ranch" is actually a 1300 sq.ft. house where he cleared brush and rode horses. And did the people's business. The press hated it because it was hot and boring.
No president is ever "on vacation". This is the thread that will never die. Please, let's move on. Comparing days of "vacation" is like a p&ssing match between rival football players. Juvenile to say the least.

Perhaps we are following more closely than some would like. When a poster makes a statement that presidents need downtime, and that those who make negative comments about that downtime are nothing but "haters", then the point is quite clear.
Apparently the "haters" statement was aimed at those who opposed the Narcissist-in-Chief, but it hit the Bush haters right in the 'ol chops as well. Seems that the Bush era was filled with the same hatred from the left, as evidenced by the many posts in this thread critical of the Bush era.

You're right about the vacation days issue, but the "ranch" is not a modest home the size of most Americans'. It is a 4000 sf house on about 1500 acres. I can't copy/paste with this computer, but look up Prairie Chapel Ranch on Wikipedia.
so, would anyone like to throw out an appropriate amount of "vacation" days for any president per term ??? should these be included as a perk or self paid ? security ? family ? destination exclusive ?

You have it all figured out.
It's all about RACE!!!!
There are a lot of liberals who use the race card to deflect any criticism of Obama. Here's a little bit of information for you,....there are many Americans who don't like Obama's WHITE HALF or his BLACK HALF!!! So much for your simple race theory.
Just maybe some Americans don't like Obama's policies, his lies, the goons with which he has surrounded himself, his associations with people of questionable backgrounds, his secretive nature, his Chicago-styled antics, his arrogance, and his need to be a superstar instead of a leader.
If you will take the time to read the first post, just maybe you'll find that this thread was never intended to be a comparison of vacation times for EVERY president, but instead posed the question about the Obamas taking so many lavish vacations/trips/outings during these economic times. Maybe you don't remember the Candidate Obama scolding the American people about their arrogance, having their homes too hot/cold, or driving the SUVs.
It seems that leading by example is not one of Barack's strong suits. It just seems that the leader of the United States should try harder to set an example for everyone to follow, not spend lavishly in these hard times.
Jimmy Carter was a bad president, but at least he led by example.
