No, we cannot trust them. There is one certainty: the largest population in the world needs our natural resources for their own survival and it owns our national debt. American consumers are funding the creation of the military of a Communist country that will one day destroy them.
Bring our manufacturing back and whenever possible, do not purchase items made in China, choose to go without until that manufacturing returns to the US. Yes, this means not shopping at Wal-Mart, Macy's, etc.... .
Petition the large US corporations to bring their manufacturing base back to this country. Petition your elected representatives to create alegislative and fiscal policies to make a return to American manufacturing the attractive and profitable move for US corporations as well as foreign based corporations. We have the ability to regain our national strength if we would just get out of our own way.

I think we really need to wake people up on this issue as it is alarming how we will trust China and we just love a bargon don't we, well some day it will kill us when those weapons we paid for are used against us, trust me it will happen.

They took hundreds of billions of dollars of our debt that we might never repay and have no way to get it back if we default. How smart are they?

Smart enough to build a military strong enough to collect our debt through force should we default. Seriously, wake up! If you think debt collectors in the US are brutal just wait until you find out what Chinese debt collection is like!

That makes no sense. The US has few natural resources compared to Africa, the Middle East, South America, Australia etc.
The China bashing reminds me of the Japan bashing in the 80s. Why make China the scapegoat for your own failures?
Regarding the military, what do you expect? I guess what Americans don't like is that in the future there will be a giant power which can keep Americans from doing what they want. A power that will be much mightier than the Soviet Union ever was.

Well, they better start spending about 5 times more on their military and enjoy large showers of tactical nucear missiles, not to mention figuring out a strategy to put down 300 million crazy, religious and armed US citizens...
Seriously... you think they would invade to collect defaulted government debt?! That *might* cost just a little bit more than writing off the loss....
we keep on borrowing money and buying consumer junk to do it from someone who owns a very large- very well equipped army. red china also has warned us to stop printing money. the banks could easily, during the next crash- sell all those houses- they have not put on the market-- to the chinese @ pennies on the dollar.
china has got the red army to do the eviction. if we cant stop 20 million illegal mexicans- mostly unarmed- from taking residence in our country- could we stop the red army from protecting its recently purchased property? the repo man is comin.
The problem is we are paying for the military that will be used against us, how smart are we? We are helping the enemy destroy us economically and militarily. We need to stop using products from China as hard as that may seem we need to do it where we can, and encourage manufacturing in the U.S again.
