I thnik we are very indivdaul which is what really separtes us form so mnay forced to conform nations. That is also our strength and why we survive in a world that is very hard to now days. I say that people should be allowed to vioivce their opinions and iote their convictions.Alloowing others to disagree and have a voice is the most inportant thing to retaining our freedom.
Are we surviving in this hard world? Or are we falling apart? What priciples are we going to come together under? What are we going to stand together for? Are we thinking about or future generations freedoms and pride more than our own? Are we still stiving to be the best country in the world? Or are we falling into despotism?
What are the five most important things you think we Americans think of ourselves as? What is your perception of US? What should it be?
Infighting
divided
Crazy
undecided
judgmental
Should it be?
Free
United
Strong
Compassionate
Unyielding
What do we all agree on?....
There is a battle going on in America these days. The battle pits those who are intolerant, ignorant, hateful and bigots, and believe America is somehow "theirs" based on skin color and economic priviledge, against those that respect the rights of other human beings to live as they wish, believe that all Americans should have equal rights and be treated fairly, and seek intelligent and enlightened solutions to the problems that plague our nation.
Why Now? We are in the midst of both economic turmoil and social change. The economic issues are all around use. Record foreclosures, high unemployment, slow or no job growth of middle class jobs. A job market that increasingly requires college level educational skills when college is more expensive than ever. The old rules where you could expect to workfor a company twenty or thirty years and retire are over. Increasing global competition for both skilled and unskilled workers. We are in an economic downturn with no technological, innovative or demographic boom to spark a recovery.
On the social front in 2009 for the first time the number of non-White babies born in this country exceeded the number of white babies born. This is a trend is NOT going to change. For many white people they are being faced with the specter of living in a country were sometime in the next 30 to 50 years white people will no longer constitute a numerical majority. This is the most profound demographic change in our nations history.
Between the economic problems and the demographic changes people are confused, angry, and in some cases scared. It's brought out the worst in some people. This country has been through social changes before. Hopefully there are enough Amrericans that sincerely want a more tolerant and fair and open society and we'll be able to get through this.
It takes great citizens to make and keep a great nation. I can't speak for America today really, as it is almost unrecognizable from my growing up years. From what I recall, however, here were some of the better traits of our people:
Belief in God
Belief in American exceptionalism
Belief in a capitalist framework
Belief in each other
Freedom loving and patriotic
Independent spirit
Competitive/ambitious/goal oriented
Good work ethic
Integrity and honor
Basic societal mores and values
Generous, with a spirit of good will
Not exhaustive, just a few characteristics which used to be possessed by the country as a whole. Used to be....

Nice! So are these still the principles we stand for everyone? What principles should we stand for? What can we unite with? We have to find common ground and get behind our basic principles to rise out of this mess intact still as one nation. What do we all agree to stand on?
These traits don't come poof!, out of a hat. They are instilled and taught at a young age by parents, teachers, churches over a lifetime of learning. And in turn the teaching and passing on of these valued principles to future generations. It was once just part of American life. Now our most precious resource, our children, are warehoused in daycare, then on to a government school system which indoctrinates them with all the globalist, America hating agendas K-12. Not a snowball's chance in hell they will come out other than good little marxists, in lockstep to statist demands. Who really cares? Who will unite against this travesty?
