I voted for him, and would gladly do it again ( I might send him a message to abandon all attempts as bi-partisanship early, and work to get things done in spite of obstructionism, however). Would I vote for a muslim for president? A person's religion is absolutly of no interst to me. . .his policies are, and that is what I would be voting for!
I'm an evangelical christian. If I had to choose between a christian and a muslim, and thought the muslim would do a better job running the country, I'd vote for the muslim.
Not being prejudiced against all muslims may have something to do with my attitude too. And this isn't directed at the OP, but the fact that we're even HAVING this debate on this forum embarrasses me as an American. Not all muslims are raving maniacs. Many are decent people. I've known them.

Thank you. . ..if more evangelical Christians thought as you do, I would be less wary of them. . ..

Given all the other, far more important factors to look at in a Presidential election, I'd rank a person's religion right up there with other burning questions like, is s/he left- or right-handed, or is s/he a "dog person" or a "cat person."
Frankly, I'd rather not know what each candidate's religion is, if any. I'd much rather know with certainty that each believes in people, ya know?
I remember when this was asked about a Catholic being elected President, and the irrational fears some people had that, if elected, Kennedy would "take orders from the Vatican."
Fast forward 50 years, and the same mindless bigotry exists today - the only difference is that the target has changed.
Who will we fear/hate 50 years from now?
