"Fast forward to August 2010 and Herron's first television ad as the Democratic nominee says: "I'm a truck driving, shotgun shooting, Bible reading, crime fighting, family loving, country boy." What, no reference to sweet tea? Well, four out of five is not bad. Now, before you ask for preseason advice on who will to win the SEC Championship, the confession is that it was known in advance Herron would campaign this way, because this is how most Tennessee Democrats have campaigned for the last twenty years, particularly congressional candidates. Consistently, they have voted for the Left-leaning Democratic agenda in Washington, while campaigning in Tennessee as rural populists."

I don't understand why people don't wake up to this and stop sending these Democrats to the House of Representatives where they become meat puppets of Nancy Pelosi and her ilk. Even if they are truly conservative/traditional Democrats, once they get to Washington, DC, they become progressive Frankentein monsters as Pelosi puts the squeeze on them to vote her way.

Well;you have consider that the leadership spends most time gathering campaign funds and has control over the funds. that is hw they control the other within the party.

That article didn't really refute Herron's ad. It says the GOP candidate is authentically all those things, but it gives absolutely no evidence that Herron doesn't have deep roots as a Tennessee country boy who likes to shoot guns, read the Bible, and drive a truck. The only valid point is that the people of the district probably wouldn't support Pelosi, but the fact is the leader of congress will always be somewhat divisive since the party will choose someone who tows the party line. A vote for Pelosi is not a vote for her agenda, and we have seen many Blue Dogs vote with the people they represent against the Health Care bill, stimulus, etc. Basically, I just think its unfair that the article tries to portray Herron as a condescending liberal elitist, when that isn't the case. He was even a Methodist minister. Maybe the people prefer the GOP candidates views, fine, but they shouldn't act like Herron isn't the man he says he is and provide no evidence to the contrary
