Did you know about the hundred million dollars given to right wing causes by David and Charles Koch of Koch Industries? Apparently the billionaire Koch brothers have been very active financially in supporting the Tea Party movement via their think tank Americans for Prosperity. So, is the Tea Party really a grass roots organization created by ordinary Americans or is it a political movement created by billionaire oil men behind the scenes to support policies which favor and create even more wealth for Koch and Koch-type Industries?...the role of Americans for Prosperity was to help “educate” Tea Party activists on policy details, and to give them “next-step training” after their rallies, so that their political energy could be channelled “more effectively.” And she noted that Americans for Prosperity had provided Tea Party activists with lists of elected officials to target. She said of the Kochs, “They’re certainly our people. David’s the chairman of our board. I’ve certainly met with them, and I’m very appreciative of what they do.” The]The billionaire Koch brothers’ war against Obama : The New Yorker billionaire Koch brothers’ war against Obama : The New Yorker

There are no suprises here at all. The American conservative movement is set up to make sure the rich and corporations stay rich and maintain as much control of the government as possible.

That is not say that other poltiticians are not brought and paid for. But the conservative movement more than any other political movement is designed to protect the power of the wealthy.

As opposed to liberalism, whose perfunctory duty is to keep the little man down by creating a Welfare State? Weatlh creates jobs. Welfare creates unproductiveness. I'll take the former anyday.

However, most Tea Party supporters claim that their movement is a true grass roots movement, started by and supported by just ordinary Americans, when, it appears in fact to be an astroturf movement created by super rich oil men.......the article is most interesting and revealing about the profits and long reach of the Koch brothers and Koch Industries. I'm wondering if the Tea Party members realize that they are being manipulated by big oil and ultra-rich billionaires in order to protect their own wealth and power rather than out of any concern for the so-called little people aka ordinary Americans.

You've got it backwards. Read your own linked article. It plainly states when outside organizations got involved. The message was drawn up by grassroots. The message has since been focused by outside support roles. Not the other way around.

Do you progressives know that you are being manipulated by the anti-American George Soros? Do you? Your whole platform is astroturf being funded by anti-Americans and terrorists.

Do you have any links to support that claim, that Soros funds EVERYTHING for the progressive agenda? Also, what's the difference between Soros and the billionaire brothers, Koch? The claim has been made over and over that the Tea Party is a pure political movement started by ordinary Americans, a real grass roots movement, when this information about funding by Koch brothers contradicts that claim. How many people in the tea party movement actually KNOW that their movement is not their own but they are being trained by people who work for the Koch brothers via Americans for Prosperity?

Actually I'm interested in talking about the Koch billionaire brothers and their connection/funding of the tea party because so many tea party members consistently claim that they are a genuine grass roots movement WITHOUT being manipulated by the ultra rich. Do you have anything to say about the Koch brothers and their FUNDING of the tea party movement? Did you know who the Koch brothers were? Had you ever heard of Koch Industries? How about Americans for Prosperity?
