If she's following the tropical/semi-tropical tradewinds routes and avoiding potentially rough weather, she should be fine. One other major problem is keeping an eye out for shipping and floating debris (this last part is not really all that possible at night).
What I hope she doesn't do is follow the "Roaring Forties" route I believe Abby Sunderland was on.

Oh for heavens sake, fishing off shore at 16 is very different from sailing alone around the world. You, as a sailer certainly should know that.

We have lost all of our moral barings in our society.....we don't even know right from wrong. WRONG CAN KICK US IN THE TEETH and we would justify it some how. This girl will not make it! This is insane!

Yea, why doesn't she just smoke weed, binge drink and get knocked up like normal 14 year old girls? Sailing around the world is SOOOO immoral...
