If she's following the tropical/semi-tropical tradewinds routes and avoiding potentially rough weather, she should be fine. One other major problem is keeping an eye out for shipping and floating debris (this last part is not really all that possible at night).
What I hope she doesn't do is follow the "Roaring Forties" route I believe Abby Sunderland was on.
No, she wants attention plus no matter what she wants since when do we all get what we want. I can assure you only a parent lacking any sense would allow her to do this.

at 14 if her family has sailed blue water all her life, yes she can handle it. I have been in races offshore where my 12 year old daughter shined when i needed her because she was an accomplished sailor as she sailed all her life andit is all natural to her. sorry to all posting that can't sail or never had the opportunity but it is an art easily learned. I fished offshore at 16 by myself with my own 31 foot boat against my parents wishes,they thought I was nuts. I made more than my Dad did as a union carpenter back them. God bless her spirit.We need more like her
Oh for heavens sake, fishing off shore at 16 is very different from sailing alone around the world. You, as a sailer certainly should know that.
