You want some champaigne with those unemployment figures? Or are you waiting for unemployment to hit 15% to pop the Don Perignon?
Nah, it's just not as funny as my cheese and whine joke.
More smileys for you.
Oh, and I'm very happy for the young savers who will get homes for pennies on the dollar as they take them from undeserving materialists who lived beyond their means

I am with the OP here. The marketization of retirement security is a disgrace and this is one of the results of it. We are lucky W. didn't get what he wanted. If he got his way, we would have complete privatization of Social Security. At least people have SS to rely on. That is unless Republicans get their way and get rid of it.

And how would they do that with a Dem President and a majority Dem Congress ?
I figure it is better for the people who actually own the mutual fund/401k or other private retirement to take it out for themselves before the goverment forces the fund managers to stop giving out money to the owners and forces the managers to buy worthless goverment bonds instead of actual stocks that make money for themselves.

please show me how much actual money social security has, not IOU's that the goverment has put aside for it, actual money in its coffers for social security.
