Savior no, however enough legitimate infrastructure projects along with associated training would certainly have been a help.
But that isn't how much/most of the stimulus money was targeted, which is part of the overall problem and causes me to agree with those not supporting Obama and/or Krugman.

Which makes you wonder why stimulus money went to things like studying ants in East Africa (I read that this morning).
I would have like if Obama had concentrated on helping displaced workers and left it at that.

I totally agree. The number and magnitude of projects funded by the Stimulus that had no bearing whatsoever on job creation is borderline criminal in my opinion. It shows that our elected officials have no desire to be good stewards of our tax dollars, even in a time of national crisis.
I believe a revolution is building in this country. I really do.

And the thing is, with that soaring rhetoric, he would have been very good at easing the nation's economic anxiety while explaining that the government can only do so much to revive the economy.
A blown opportunity.

"The curious task of economics is to demonstrate to men how little they really know about what they imagine they can design." - F.A. Hayek
I doubt a bunch of retards in government will ever understand this concept, so they will fail, fail, and fail some more...then blame something or someone else for their failures.

Who is they? If you are referring to the Republicans, they got their tax cuts and it failed as most economist predicted. As for the "disastrous spending trail" the stimulus has not, I repeat, has not effected the economy negatively. If it has perhaps you can explain why the federal discount rate is still damn near zero? And when you get done with that, trying explaining how the stimulus has depressed demand for goods and services?
Oh, puleeze! They yelled and screamed until the administration put in tax cuts amounting to 42% of the total stimulus package. Anyone who honestly thought that $528 billion was going to totally reverse an economy hemorrhaging $1.2 trillion can't add.
I await your response with baited breath.

That baited breath is pretty bad.
1. The stimulus failed. Unemployment is still around 10%, we are still in recession, we have record foreclosures, and record debt and deficits to show for it.
Unemployment is higher after the stimulus and things are getting worse, not better. I guess the measure of "success" of the stimulus would be lower unemployment, stable home prices, and reduced mortgage defaults. The opposite has occurred- if this is what democrats call success, I would hate to see failure.
2. Tax cuts? EVERYONE is getting a tax increase in January- both individuals and buisnesses, as the Bush tax cuts expire.
3. Buisness gets increased expenses and increased taxes in the form of Obamacare.
4. Capital is still frozen, despite relatively low interest rates. Banks are not lending, due to increased regulations from Obama, destroying the flow of capital.
5. Buisnesses are not hiring, as they are awaiting the impact of the increased buisness and personal taxes after January.
6. The spectre of "cap and trade", and thus markedly increased energy expenses, looms over buisness.
It is HILARIOUS that anyone would call Obama's disaster a success.

Well, we knew it wouldn't take long for embattled dems, who will bear the brunt of voter anger of obama's failed policies, to come out and call for Geitner's head.

Now embattled Democrats are getting into the act.
Rep. Tom Perriello, a Virginia Democratic freshman and one of the most-endangered House members, has called for Geithner’s head, at a town-hall meeting in Ruckersville, Va.
