They made an announcement about the press conference yesterday, but when the press found out what it was about, they were no longer interested. My google search only showed this local TV station.
""...Today is a good day, but it is also a solemn day," Assistant Attorney General for National Security John Demers said at a press conference Wednesday. "Today we remember the four innocent Americans whose lives were taken by ISIS: James Wright Foley, Steven Joel Sotloff, Peter Edward Kassig, and Kayla Jean Mueller."
"Many around the world are familiar with the barbaric circumstances of their deaths. But we will not remember these Americans for the way they died. We will remember them for the way they lived their good and decent lives....""
Apparently Kurds in Syria captured the two terrorists and sent them to Iraq where they could be extradited.
Attorney General William Barr negotiated with Britain to extradite the pair to the US for prosecution by taking the death penalty off the table as consideration for sentencing.
"These charges are the product of many years of hard work in pursuit of justice for our citizens slain by ISIS. Although we cannot bring them back, we can and will seek justice for them, their families, and for all Americans," Barr said in a news release.
I hope we are not bringing them here to fund their existence in jail for decades.
Can't we just send them to one of Gov. Cuomo's nursing homes?

Britain is a member of the Council of Europe which includes European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR), there are 47 European member states all of whom must obey the Convention and it's Courts, there is therefore no change of anyone being extradited from any of these 47 countries in order to face the death penalty.
There was therefore nothing lawfully the UK could do until the US confirmed that they would not be executed.
Article 2 of the European Convention on Human Rights protects the right to life. The article contains a limited exception for the cases of lawful executions and sets out strictly controlled circumstances in which the deprivation of life may be justified. The exemption for the case of lawful executions has been subsequently further restricted by Protocols 6 (restriction of the death penalty to war time) and 13 (abolition of the death penalty), for those parties who are also parties to those protocols.
The European Court of Human Rights has commented that "Article 2 ranks as one of the most fundamental provisions in the Convention".
The obligations on a State under Article 2 consist of three principal aspects: the duty to refrain from unlawful deprivation of life; the duty to investigate suspicious deaths; and in certain circumstances, a positive obligation to take steps to prevent avoidable losses of life
Whether Britain stays in the ECHR after the current transition period is debatable and British PM Boris Johnson has already stated he would like to opt out of some of the ECHR laws and will not be drawn on whether Britain will leave altogether.
Personally I am delighted that they will now face US Courts with the possibility of life in Florence Supermax Prison alongside Abu Hamza (Captain Hook), who is another disgusting excuse for a human being.

And why didn't the previous jackass administration do anything? Oh wait, obozo and pedo joe. That explains it. Let's ship them up to live with him and the mooch.
Those people have been at war with us for years, if not decades. They are enemy combatants, and should be treated as such. If you catch one, stand him up against a wall and shoot him.
The fact that we have not declared war on them, doesn't change the fact that they have declared war on us, and have committed acts of war against us.
