Not everyone will become an addict.
Many people try something a time or two, or for a period of time and quit, with no problem to themselves or their families.

Addiction comes in many forms: gambling, drugs, drinking, food, internet, etc.
If you've got an addictive personality, you'll get addicted to something.
Just because something CAN get out of control does not mean that it WILL get out of control.

You didn't like it, so you stopped. That's your choice.
Let others be to do what they want with their bodies.

Exactly... This is why all drugs should be legalized and taxed. There should also be education programs funded with these increased taxes so peopkle do know there are dangers with drugs (like meth) and also increased treatment centers open to deal with those that want help.

Nobody should be told what to do with their own bodies. It affects me not...

It's amazing the mentality of legalized it all and tax it. THEN..... use those tax dollars to help them when things go bad. WTF ! These hippie types use a bunch of dope, get to lala land.... then post here apparently.

Hey look over there, a pretty colorful flying widget.... as they unknowingly run over some kid on his bike thinking he's a paint stripe on the road. Na..... their drug use didn't affect that kid or his family much if any now did it ?!

True story..... "Joe" was drying some of his meth in the microwave (for some reason, don't know why or care) on a plate with a paper towel over it. His kid wanted to heat up a burger and asked his dad "Joe" if the plate in the micro was clean. Being completely out of his skull, "Joe" said yes and the kid heated his burger up on top of a plate full of meth..... the kid didn't sleep for over 3 days after eating his burger ! Not until his mother took him to the hospital on day 3 of his "adventure" did she finally figured out what was going on.

And "Joe" is now locked up where his extra curricular activities can no longer affect the innocent ! He too was one that thought his use of drugs could never affect someone else.

Oh the intellects that surround us.....

It is the same way in the Chicago suburbs. Meth is almost unheard of, but some of the heroin is so strong that several kids have died on the first dose. Perhaps there is some confusion about how far out the suburbs go. Some urbanites probably think of a farm in Iowa as being "the suburbs."

Yes, the druggies only want the government out of their lives until they want it back in. The minute they lose their jobs becaue they showed up to work stoned, they expect plentiful food stamps and government assistance for their housing. If they OD, they expect they should walk into any ER and have their beloved government pay for it.

Of course when your mind is screwed up from drugs, it would figure that you would think like this.

If all drugs are so safe (the pro-drug side always claims they are) then why should there be any treatment centers? Let drug addicts die. They make their choice - let them live or die with their choice.
