Obama's response is appropriate, especially given his position.
Couldn't help but think that this description (of Beck's "position") fit CANDIDATE Obama pretty well.

Liberals have some facts behind them, but until they can learn to duckspeak as well as figures like Beck, they will lose the war of words time after time.
That is a very thoughtful editorial.

The Tea Party not really about money or socialism or the national debt. It's about the end of the Norman-Rockwell/Leave-It-To-Beaver image of America. An America where being a white, middle-class, Protestant is normative. The Tea Partiers are right: it's not about race, per se. It's about race and class and religion together. When they say they "want 'their' country back," what they really mean is they want to feel normative again. They want to be able to say "Merry Christmas" with impunity or to assume everyone is straight. That vision of America is gone forever and no economic recovery can bring it back.

Of course, that America started waning decades ago. Obama is merely a very dramatic representation of the trend.

I disagree with the author in that I'm sure Obama understands it. It's just not something he can talk about and has no power to change.

The irony is that many Tea Partiers, the Roman Catholics, the Mormons, and the non-Anglo Saxon/Scots, would have themselves been seen as suspect Americans as little as 50 years ago. Or perhaps that's why they're so angry? They fought so hard to be part of the Establishment only to find that the Establishment has moved on.

The "these people" you refer to must mimic the liberal progressive posters on CD if your description above is correct.

Obama should never address the likes of Beck , Limbaugh or Palin....he should ignore them....

Obama doesn't get the American people who are fed up with his Progressive entitlement theory of government imposed social justice and his job killing economic policies.

Obama doesn't address the American people who disagree with his policies with anything other than contempt.

Glenn Beck is just a talking head but he happens to echo the thoughts and feelings of a significant number of Americans. So when Obama doesn't "get" Beck, he doesn't "get" traditional American values.

The suggestion that Obama ignore the Americans who do not agree with him is exactly the reason his approval ratings have plummited.

Got arrogance? Obama does.

Don't worry, he does ignore them, just as he ignores the entire population of the country who don't agree with his horrible policies.
He is destroying the country, and the fools cheer him on.. How sad for you..!

The situation is the world is changing and Beck and those that advocate his ideals simply aren't equipped to handle the changes . So they cling to a vision of America that is fading away right before their eyes. That WILL NOT prevent the changes from happening. You can either ride the waves of change or swept under by them.

I'd suggest you follow your own advice.
