Let's weigh in on Obama's new Oval Office. It can't be any less relevant than half of these other threads.
My take: He should have redecorated it earlier, not because it was bad but because you need to put your own stamp on things when you're in charge. I don't know if Obama wanted to give the impression that things weren't changing but it did add to the belief that his was a continuation of the Bush administration. Bush's office was a little drab, tasteful but professional. That sunburst carpet was classic, though. Laura Bush gets a thumbs up for that.
Obama's new office: Too gold/yellow. The best addition is the Seal of the United states, very conservative and still powerful. The new office is not an improvement, but there's enough of the original pieces there to contrast with the bad color scheme. That tile coffee table is pretty bad. Drudge had a good linkup.
So let's start with the " He's wasting tax payer's money" or " All he can do is redecorate" or "Why bother when he's gone in 2 years?" or " What does it matter its his office?"
Sorry but the Oval Office is being redecorated with funds raised by the Obama Inuagural Committee not by TAXPAYER money! Let's not go down that road!
Obviously he was pre occupied with other things other than redocorating when he took office.
Is it to stimulate the economy or because the POTUS doesn't understand it..A New Dawn, A New-ish Oval Office .
When President Obama addresses the nation Tuesday night on the end of combat operations in Iraq, it will be from a newly decorated Oval Office.
It's common for presidents to make personal touches to the Oval early in term and while Mr. Obama and the first family were vacationing on Martha's Vineyard workers painted, put up wall paper, laid a new rug, and moved in new couches, chairs, lamps, and reupholstered furniture.
While the White House has not released the cost of the updates, a statement released by the press office said it was "in line with the amount spend by Presidents Clinton and George W. Bush on the redesigns of their Oval Office" and that funds paying for the redesign would come from Mr. Obama's inaugural committee and the White House Historical Association. The inaugural committee fund is also being used to pay for the design cost in other White House rooms including the Yellow Oval Room, the Center Hall and the West Sitting Hall.
According to the White House, all the existing furniture now in the Oval Office will remain the property of the White house and will be place in a storage facility. The White House gave the press corps a peek of the room ahead of the president's address.
Okay ...it is luckily not thrown away and can be placed back
Over here in Florida we hear more and more people losing their job and having no money to spent on much and then to see that they remodeled the Oval Office where nothing was wrong with, is to me like a slap in the face of the people who wish they just had some money to stay in their home...
The timing of this First couple is really great...
Who cares? You rightwingers would complain if Obama spent money changing from 1-ply toilet paper to 2-ply! Maybe Obama didn't like sitting in the beer fart stained chair Dubya left behind!

I don't think redecorating was high on his list of concerns, and tax payers did not pay for it.
I would have redecorated it to resemble the control room of the Enterprise
I wonder if there is an oval office makeover software out there, I am full of ideas
