Pro bono is not an alien concept. There are already such requirements in many places for attorneys.

Physicians and lawyers hold a different position in the social order than do plumbers or hair stylists.

If money is the only reason they went into medicine they probably suck at it, anyway. I have fired two cardiologists and an endocrinologist who had to start from scratch every time I went for an appointment. They couldn't be bothered to read the charts from the previous visit.

As I stated previously, money needs to be removed from medicine. If a physician proves himself to be outstanding, he will make money accordingly. He doesn't deserve it simply because he holds a license to practice.

Does this requirement of licensing also apply to plumbers? Electricians? Hair stylists?

If you're going to force charity upon docs, will that also apply to nurses? Dentists, chiropractors?
Maybe not chiropractors.

I'm surprised that one of our resident "doctors" hasn't come back to defend his position.
