Actually, it goes back even further into Bush's first term, and a program he and his Republican Congress put in place. Bush's program set a GOAL to increase low-income and minority home ownership by 5.5 million during his administration, and called on congress to pass the American Dream Down Payment Fund to help make that happen.
George W. Bush:

"More and more people own their homes in America today. Two-thirds of all Americans own their homes, yet we have a problem here in America because few than half of the Hispanics and half the African Americans own the home. That's a homeownership gap. It's a -- it's a gap that we've got to work together to close for the good of our country, for the sake of a more hopeful future. We've got to work to knock down the barriers that have created a homeownership gap.

"I set an ambitious goal. It's one that I believe we can achieve. It's a clear goal, that by the end of this decade we'll increase the number of minority homeowners by at least 5.5 million families. (Applause.)

. . .

And so we’ve called upon Congress to set up what’s called the American Dream Down Payment Fund, which will provide financial grants to local governments to help first-time home buyers who qualify to make the down payment on their home. If a down payment is a problem, there’s a way we can address that. And when Congress funds the program, this should help 200,000 new families over the next five years become first-time home buyers.

2002: Bush’s Speech To the White House Conference on Increasing Minority Homeownership

WHAT? Republicans giving away handouts to the poor and minorities to make down payments on homes they couldn't afford otherwise? Where was all the screeching and hollering about irresponsible spending and government handouts and leeches on the government teat in 2002?

Hypocrites.

Hypocrites.
And when Bush jr came into office we had 500B in the bank and when he left we were over a trillion in debt. The sad part is the Dem's have been their worse enemy. The Repub's are going to take the house and now from yesterdays news, they got a serious shot at the Senate. And I'm neither. The Dem's had a prefect time to retain both chambers but Reid has led them to unemployment.

Obama is not cleaning up anyone's mess.
All the bad laws put in place over the years to let the banksters rob the kitty are still in place.
All the bad laws put in place to give money away to people who don't qualify for it are still in place.
All the bad paper once held by the banks is now owned by the Fed who refuse to let Congress do a REAL AUDIT.

And on top of that Obama is creating his own set of messes that will will have to live with on top of the old messes (which haven't been cleaned up..just bandaided with trillions of taxpayer dollars).

Bascially it all started in the bill to creat fannie and freddie in 1992 in which it was decided to encourge loans to people who could not otherwise afford them.

Say what?

The Federal Home Loan Mortgage Corporation (FHLMC), known as Freddie Mac (OTCBB: FMCC), is a government sponsored enterprise (GSE) of the United States federal government. Freddie Mac has its headquarters in the Tyson's Corner CDP in unincorporated Fairfax County, Virginia.[3][4]
The FHLMC was created in 1970 to expand the secondary market for mortgages in the US. Along with other GSEs, Freddie Mac buys mortgages on the secondary market, pools them, and sells them as a mortgage-backed security to investors on the open market. This secondary mortgage market increases the supply of money available for mortgage lending and increases the money available for new home purchases. The name, "Freddie Mac", is an acronym of the company's full name that had been adopted officially for ease of identification (see "GSEs" below for other examples).

The Federal National Mortgage Association (FNMA) (OTCBB: FNMA), commonly known as Fannie Mae, was set up as a stockholder-owned corporation chartered by Congress in 1968 as a government-sponsored enterprise (GSE), but founded in 1938 during the Great Depression.

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- President Clinton closed years of political and economic debate Tuesday, and sealed a major achievement of his administration by signing a bill extending permanent, normal trade status to China.
"Today we take a major step toward China's entry into the World Trade Organization and a major step toward answering some of the central challenges of this new century," Clinton said in a bipartisan White House ceremony Tuesday afternoon.
"Trade with China will not only extend our nation's unprecedented economic growth, it offers us a chance to help shape the future of the world's most prosperous nation and to reaffirm our own global leadership for peace and prosperity."
The measure is considered the most important U.S. trade legislation since passage of the North American Free Trade Agreement in 1993. But it faced a long campaign of opposition from labor, human rights and conservative groups who wanted to retain the annual review of trade relations with China.
The Senate passed the China trade bill in September after supporters won a bruising battle in the House of Representatives in May. Lawmakers from both sides of the aisle joined Clinton on the South Lawn of the White House to watch him sign the measure, dubbed the U.S.-China Relations Act of 2000.
Yea, how's this working for Americans now. No jobs, in debt to China, China soon to become the SUPER POWER!!

Time to realize wake up AMERICANS quit taking sides and vote for what"s best for American and Americans. Not what' s best for the Party or Hollywood.
