“Many people speculated that subsurface oil droplets were being easily degraded,” said Richard Camilli, the lead author of the paper. “Well we didn’t find that. We found it was still there.”
Hmmm, since this was BP's mess, and BP is running those commericials that they are cleaning everything up why hasn't BP said this plume was out there? I mean dang, as multi-billion dollar PRIVATE company they should have had the means to know it was there. You mean a private CORPORATION isn't being forthcoming?

Imagine that. BP sucks.
Our government also said there was no more oil.
In fact they want you to go swimming in the Gulf and eat the fish.

I often agree with you. This time, I think the full results, and the long term after effects of the BP disaster probably won't be known for many years. Probably, there will be many more detrimental effects of this disaster that will surface.
I don't put all my faith in the government, but I have zero faith in BP being honest, ethical, and forthcoming. They've been lying and taking shortcuts for years. What's to trust? If their lips are moving they are lying. Their commercials may turn some people, but I remember the safety short cuts that resulted in the fire in TX; the cut and paste contingency plan for Deepwater; the shortcuts and rush cement job on Deepwater.
BP sucks.
