"2010 will be a great year for Republicans. But 2012 is shaping up to be the opposite. And a look further down the road paints an even uglier picture for the GOP.

"None of this is to say that this November doesn't matter, or that its results will be inconsequential. If the Republican Party takes over the House, they may defund health care, shut down the federal government, and usher in a period of gridlock without precedent.

"But November should be understood in context. This is the last election cycle in which this congressional map -- designed predominantly by Republicans -- will be used. And it will be the last year Republicans can depend on ideological purification without serious retribution at the polls."

Wasn't Obama supposed to bring those alternatives to Washington? After years of division under Bush, Obama promised change. Remember the word UNITY being used extensively in his campaign? What happened??????????? Obama not keeping his UNITY pledge?

You are of course describing Hilary Clinton's long game for 2012, right?

Demographically everything long range works AGAINST the Republican Party if it continues its current strategy and platform. The nation is becoming more diverse and the most conservative states are in the South and the Rocky Mountain states. States like Virginia, Texas, Georgia and North Carolina are becoming increasingly diverse. They are also attracting transplants from other areas they may not be as conservative as the native population.

In any presidential election the way things stand now that Republican Party HAS TO WIN Florida and Texas or they are toast. They also have to do better than the Democrats in the Midwest. For the Democrats all they have to do is basically do better than the Republicans in the Midwest and they will just about any national election.

Just look at pictures from the 2008 Republican National Convention. The people are old and it is not a very diverse crowd. At the 2008 Democratic National Convention the pictures show a cross section of America in terms of age and ethnic and racial diversity.

It's by far the biggest mistake Barack Obama has made since he's been President. He's given Republicans that chance to meet him in the middle. The moment the Republicans stated that they wanted health care reform to be his "Waterloo" he should have KNOWN there is no way to work with the majority of Republicans.

Even the title of thread "Democrats Still Winning" . . .

That is the problem with a lot of people in this country. They think politics is like a football game cheering We're #1!

Sad. Who cares who wins if our country ends up mired in a debt that can never be repayed, overrun by illegal immigrants, crime, and dishonest politicians. The liberals and Obama are taking our country down a path we may never recover from.

Who wins then?

Democrats can't even control the short game and like carter did they just can't do anything that has to do with the economy right.Slogans mean nothing beyond its rethoric value to those who are drowning and grasp at anything .

This after 8 years of George W. Bush starting the deficit ball rolling, expanding government and spending a trillion dollars on an unnecessary war in Iraq. The ditch we are in was dug by the administration of President George W. Bush Jr. Now President Obama HAS TO spend money to resuscitate the economy. If the federal government hadn't stepped up spending the economy would be in much worse shape than it is now.

The only thing the Republicans can offer the American people is cut taxes. Thats not a plan that's patronage to the rich and corporate interests.
