I don't think we've had a remotely decent president since Calvin Coolidge--although I have to credit Eisenhower with not being a completely pliant doll of the Israeli lobby, as was evidenced in 1956.

The last president I can honestly say I really admire was Grover Cleveland: honest, anti-imperialist, pro-Constitution, not a power grabber.

I dont believe the Bush administration would have invaded Iraq if 9/11 did not happen as Bush would have kept up what the previous administration has done and kept up sanctions on Saddam. Yet of course the neo cons within the republican party would have wanted to yet before 9/11 they were not so prominent in determining foreign policy. Only after 9/11 did the neo cons within US government played an much more influentual role in US foreign policy.
