The fear of being captured and beheaded is real deal in Afghanistan and Iraq. The Fear and the anxiety of that can be overwhelming. When you see blood and guts spilled out of your Armed war partners body will take a toll on you. The conversations that I had with people can make a pig puke. When you are out in a War Zone your not out there to give people kisses. Your mission is to go out and kill the enemy!!
I don't codone what this guy did. But I truly understand what made him go mad.

Sorry, but soldiers don't get an out. They are professionals like anyone else. They happen to kill professionally. No exceptions or special treatment given. If it is determined they did do this, they should be at least minimally dishonorably discharged and possibly serve jail time.

Killing civilians was wrong and they need to pay for what they did. That truly was a horrible act they all did.
It sounds as if the staff sgt may have come on board and possibly in an attempt to boost morale or something, pushed these kids over the edge. If this is true it is dispicable. I will withold judgement until the details are known. And you need to remember that this involved 5 men out of the tens of thousands of troops we have deployed.
It's too bad people aren't starting threads about all the GOOD things the troops are doing. But that isn't popular right now. Heck, we even have the ACLU defending terrorists. I guess the civilians that they kill are casualties of war.
