Everyone didn't play an equal part. Pretending that the blame can be spread like that is nothing more than another coping mechanism.
The meltdown was a direct result of GOP policy.
I don't think for one moment the Republicans intended their policies to create an economic disaster, but that's what happened, just like in 1929. They removed the banking/financing restrictions put in place during the Great Depression that kept the markets and banks from overextending themselves. The assumption was that businessmen today were smarter, more capable, and less irresponsible than eighty years ago,
Events have proven them wrong.
With the brakes off, Wall St ran right off the tracks. Again.
