I was at home getting my kids ready for school. My husband called me from work with the news- I thought he was joking when he told me the first plane had crashed. Then I flipped on the TV and couldn't believe it. I still get goosebumps when the topic comes up!

I was just getting up late for work. I lived at my work and my boss called and told me to turn on the news. I saw the first tower burning and didn't know fully why. After a few minutes the second plane hit. I'm retired Air Force so I emailed some people I know at Peterson AFB and they briefed me to the events.
Like all America I sat down in amazement, growing angry. I called into work and told them I would not be in that day but if they needed to call, my boss and other coworkers made the same decision.
The day after 2 F16's flew over, I was in Castle Rock Colorado, about 60 miles from Peterson and teh Air Force Academy. It donned on me how strange that no commercial air planes were flying. The missing vapor trails. I'm not sure why that's what I noticed but really got to me.

9/11 is my oldest daughter's birthday. She was stationed in Korea on 9/11/01 and I had gotten up early (because of the time difference) to call her and wish her happy birthday. I then sat down with a soda and a cigarette to watch the news before going to work. As I watched the horror unfold I called my son and younger daughter to make certain they knew what was going on. I sat paralyzed the rest of the morning staring at the tv and praying. Went to my church in the afternoon and discovered it full of other people silently praying. Never did go to work that day.

I was a flight attendant on an overnight in Greenville/Spartanburg, SC. I woke up around 8:30am, went down to the lobby to grab some free breakfast, and noticed everyone around the TV watching. That was the first plane, and then we saw the second hit. I then went and gathered the rest of my crew and tried to rent a car to get home with no luck. Tried to donate blood as well, but the line was so long we eventually gave up. Stayed gathered around the TV for the next 5 days, until we were deadheaded back to our home base.

Default Where were you on September 11, 2001?

How could I ever forget!!!! I was at work and received a phone call from my husband that we were just attacked!!!! While on the phone with me he saw the second plane hit!

I immediately ran to my supervisor and told her and everybody hovered around the radio listening for details!!! My husband wanted me home immediately! He was worried Boston would be hit next and I wasn't far from there.

Many co-workers left, especially the moms who had soldiers in Iraq, worried to death what the outcome would be.

The shock and horror was overwhelming and still is!!! I don't think any American will ever forget or get over this terrorist attack!! Or any terrorist attack against our country!!!!

I was on my way to work, listening to a local talk radio show when they mentioned something about an airliner colliding with the WTS. When I got to work, folks were huddled around the TV in the back, and it was showing the pentagon, smoking from its attack.

I remember thinking, 'Holy sh*t, what's next?'
