One family lost both parents.
Seventeen of those killed were members of my church.
I did not know anybody. My union lost several members that were working in the building but they worked for Bell Atlantic (Verizon). I just remember seeing the names in our newsletter. Some of them were in the building on the upper floors and had no choice but to die that day but 4 of them were in the ground floor central office and they could have fled but stayed to try to and keep the office up on generator power so that the WTC would still have vital communications ability and they died when the first tower fell.
What a huge loss. I am sure many others are still affected, just as you are.

I lost 84 coworkers, plus other people died who I knew from my daily life, such as the security guard at the door where I came in every day and the workers at Cantor Fitz's cafeteria on 101 (anyone could use it--I sometimes have dreams that I am standing in that cafeteria and then I remember that a plane is coming and I have to get out of there.)
Even after all these years, I still see a photo here and there of someone who died and I recognize the face, even though I didn't know them--I must have seen them in the elevator or outside on the Plaza.

Please don't say "Islam declared war on civilization"
It's just ignorant.
Terrorists were the ones who attacked this country and the American people. Not "Islam". They were terrorists who happened to be Islamic.
And this is coming from an Army vet!
( I am not Muslim btw. I just find it appalling when people want to blame a religion for the stupidity of others. )
It's amazing to learn of the people who stayed behind to help others, and lost their lives doing so. A great attribute of Americans. Thanks for posting this.

1993 Siege at Waco
1992 Ruby Ridge
1968 Gun Control Act
1932 National Firearms Act
Just off the top of my head.
And that tyranny was the motivation for Islamic terrorists to fly jets into the WTC, Pentagon, and a flight meant for the White House or Capitol that was diverted by heroic passengers into a Pennsylvania field.

Yeah right.
Crazy people do crazy things. They don't need a reason to do anything!
Those people were just crazy. A lot of people outside this country HATE us! It doesn't matter if we are the first ones to help when something catastrophic happens overseas. We are always going to be the bad guys! We have a lot of amazing people in America but nobody cares about the good ones. They only see the "bad" side because that's all they CHOOSE to see...and then they use that as an excuse to do stupid things like what happened on 9/11.
