US poverty on track to post record gain in 2009 - Yahoo! News (http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20100911/ap_on_bi_ge/us_poverty_in_america - broken link)

So... I guess this was the "change" of which Obama was speaking of?

Unfortunately, the stimulus Obama passed seems to be faltering out and the economy has an extremely high probability of falling into a double dip, which will increase poverty rates even more.

Default What they wanted

This is exactly what the President and his administration want, in a twisted way. The Liberals continually want people to depend on the government for everything, this is how Democrats retain their power, via entitlements. Fortunately, there are too many US citizens who don't agree with it, I would guess even a large percentage of Democrats.

President Obama must feel lonely these days, and will in a few months when his people begin to bail. And President Obama's advisors should be quick to stop bringing up Boehner's name. Most of us on this forum know who he is, but the vast majority of Americans don't, so when Boehner does become the Speaker of the House, the President is going to be eating, well, his words.

Of course, things could change. The Democrats could pick up many more seats and shock all of us. -----

Welfare programs definitely are not reducing poverty rates. Welfare programs are the government breeding more poverty - paying women to have children and making it easier to live off the government forever rather than marry or work or marry and work.

The number of people in the U.S. who are in poverty is on track for a record increase on President Barack Obama's watch, with the ranks of working-age poor approaching 1960s levels that led to the national war on poverty.

It's unfortunate timing for Obama and his party just seven weeks before important elections when control of Congress is at stake. The anticipated poverty rate increase — from 13.2 percent to about 15 percent — would be another blow to Democrats struggling to persuade voters to keep them in power.
Yeah, his policies are really doing wonders for the economy.

Anyone that thinks this is Obama's fault has the IQ of toilet paper. If California (my state) doesn't comeback the US economy won't either. This is our first month in CA where we spent less then we brought in. So something good is happening. The point is though there is too much on the plate for one man caught between to screaming parties to handle. But seriously if you thought McCain would have made it any better! But lets just be realistic, in this day and age our economy can't be what it was without complete changes in one very large issue, enviroment point blank period. The world is falling apart as we know it. We need to stop our ways if we are going to have a good future
