Which WILL cost businesses, small and large, BILLIONS of dollars to comply.

Tax-reporting law: White House backs bill to alter law - latimes.com

Quote:
Facing a backlash from small businesses over a new tax-reporting requirement in the healthcare law the president signed in March, the Obama administration is embracing the first change to the landmark legislation.
Yes, seems they have come on board and saw the writing on the wall with this one.

Of course, this little provision is NO surprise;

This has been known and talked about for over a year, which the obama supporters have ignored, as usual;

BREAKING: Comprehensive List of Taxes<br> In House Democrat Health Bill

Costly IRS Mandate Slipped into Health Bill | Cato @ Liberty

Quote:
A few wording changes to the tax code’s section 6041 regarding 1099 reporting were slipped into the 2000-page health legislation. The changes will force millions of businesses to issue hundreds of millions, perhaps billions, of additional IRS Form 1099s every year.
The democrats corrupted and bastardized the legislative process and I have a feeling they will pay Nov 2.

I wouldn't count on a Republicrat majority doing anything.

I suffer from the handicap of reading the law, and I can tell you, that what is on the books, if widely known and comprehended by 51% of the American people, would trigger a mass resignation of public officials, and a rush to countries that do not extradite.

They are only secure by consent of the governed - or in this case - ignorance and apathy.

I guess this really cements the notion that obama and the dems are anti-business.

No doubt. This will probably save or create another 1000 IRS jobs just sorting through all the 1099s. They couldn't even get the reporting minimum raised to $5K.

unintended consequences = lots business previously reported will be held off the books and done in cash

The Democrats opposed the Republican proposal and made a counter offer (up the reporting income to $5000 and exempt all businesses employing less than 25 people) which the Republicans opposed. Neither can get passed without the support of some from either party. Seems like both parties are playing politics at the expense of the public.

I think the underground economy has flourished under Obama, especially with "unemployed" people drawing benefits and working off the books for undeclared cash.
