Many people on CD criticize Sharia law as being barbaric and un-humane.
To those who have this view, how do you feel about the Castle Doctrine in certain US states?
The Castle Doctrine basically gives a homeowner the legal right to use force to kill or stop an intruder in his/her home that poses an imminent threat to the homeowner or any innocent person in the home.
Do you feel the Castle Doctrine is cruel because it gives one the right to kill another human being?
This is a comment from my point of view as a liberal responsible for more than just me.
Sharia law is barbaric to the innocent and helpless. The Castle Doctrine allows a householder to protect his family from the guilty by using lethal force if necessary. I support the Castle Doctrine because I have a duty to protect anyone in my household from violent assault.
BTW - killing people that needed killing has never been a crime. Police and soldiers do it all the time. Killing is not a crime; murder is a crime.

FAIL, huge FAIL!
1. The Castle Doctrine does not give one the right to kill another human being. Rather, it recognizes the universal and natural right of self-defense in the home against home-invaders and those with the ability and means to use lethal force against the lawful occupants of a home, vehicle, or in some states, anywhere a person is lawfully allowed to be. Any use of lethal force in self-defense must still be within the guidelines of state law and proven justifyable in a criminal court of law. The individuals using lethal force in self-defense as defined under the Castle Doctrine of their given state are only given immunity from civil suit by the unlawful intruder/attackers.
2. There is NO comparison between any part of Sharia Law and Constitutionally affirmed rights enforced by state laws. None.

Nope.
Now, would you care to explain the basis for the moral equivalence you are trying to draw between Sharia and Castle laws? (Hint - there isn't one.)

Does the castle doctrine give the right to do honor killings or cut the ears and noses off of women?
Do women actually set themselves on fire to escape the Castle Doctrine?

Now you're asking him to know, at least a little, of what he's talking about. That's just cruel!
