No one takes Maher seriously or looks to him for the "truth" - nor would he want them to.
Maher has an audience, not a following.
Maher's fans do not hang on his every word, they realize he is an entertainer, not an expert.

And so many thought Jon Stewart was a REAL "news" source too....

A lot of people take Maher seriously - if they didn't, he'd have no show.

Maher thinks he's an expert. That's enough.

Y'all have had that for decades: PBS, CNN, MSNBC...etc.

Bill's all comedy? You should tell HIM that.

That is what is wrong with mixing a comedy career with politcs;the clowns begin to believe they make sense.

Apparently the only people who consider Maher an expert are his detractors.

How about some examples of people who think that Maher is a "real"....well, anything other than what he is, a comedian.

And, some links to video that show Maher presenting himself as an expert (like maybe pontificating with a black board?).

He sells tickets to his shows. He does not exhort (and extort) bubble heads to attend his rallies to "take back America." Big difference.

Bill Maher is a very hateful, angry man. I would not call him a "comedian". John Stewart, who appears to be a liberal, is pretty funny, as he pokes fun at everyone, with obviously more attention to conservatives.

what is it about the phrase 'take back America' that drives liberals into such a tizzy, and why were they championing exactly that phrase to exhort [and extort] bubble heads just a few short years ago?

Because it begs the question, take it back to what? You KNOW what those TP-ists mean when they say it. The folks who had no interest in politics before about September 2008.

It's an empty cliche no matter who's using it.

agreed. but hearing conservatives use it seems to send many libs into a state of apoplexy, which i find odd. especially considering that obama was an invited guest speaker at just such an event.
