BY Celeste Katz One of the four state Senate Republicans who broke ranks to vote for New York’s gay marriage bill last year will not seek reelection this fall. http://www.nydailynews.com/blogs/sit.../u56/alesi.jpgOur Ken Lovett reports: Sen. James Alesi (R-Rochester) told the Daily News Wednesday night that he believes his vote in favor of the landmark gay marriage legislation would have severely hampered his chances in a GOP primary this year.
He said the vote — which passed 33-29 due to the GOP defectors — cost him the support of the leadership of the local Republican and Conservative parties. They are now backing his primary opponent.
“I’ve gotten a lot of support from Democrats and the gay community, but unfortunately they can’t vote in a Republican primary,” said Alesi, now in his eighth term.
Alesi was the first state Senate GOPer to commit publicly to supporting gay marriage.

Oh yes that is much worse than some guy banging his secretary while his wife is at home. The state should be out of the marriage business altogether. You get a legal union contract from the state for legal status only, call it marriage, civil union, or unga bunga, it is NONE of the states' business.

You've got something wrong with people standing up for what they believe? Are you actually advocating politicians toe the party line and ignore their own personal beliefs??
Aww yea, you want the current government system that we have. The one that's not working.
"In January 2008, Alesi illegally entered an unfinished Perinton home, claiming he believed the house was for sale, and broke his leg while climbing a ladder. The front door was locked, but Alesi managed to gain entry through an unlocked back door. He did not have permission from either the builder or the homeowners to enter the house. The owners and builder declined to press charges for trespassing. On January 18, 2011, the same day the statute of limitations for any potential trespassing charges expired, Alesi filed a lawsuit against the owners and the builder alleging an unsafe environment at the home site.[4] After criticism from members of the public and other Republicans, Alesi withdrew the lawsuit."
