After Obama's town meeting last night it appears as if his base is losing faith, losing hope.

That is what Obama promised in his campaign; Hope. Pure and simple. Those (naive) voters who believed him, after two years are now expressing their disappointment in him. Anyone surprised?

I'm with these people who voted for obama, but have been very disappointed in him. We were promised change, but got more of the same. He's pretty much a progressive republican who is buddy-buddy with the right passing weaksauce bills usually loaded with pork for big business. At the meeting yesterday, obama should have let that cry-baby wall street scumbag have it, who was complaining the government is treating big business "like a pinata" and how hiring $35,000 a year employees is too much. Instead he gave him a mild slap on the wrist.
The only good thing was he's sticking firm to his tax cuts only for those making under 250k. Obama needs to get back to core democratic values, and not leftest republican ones if he wants to keep his voters.

1. He ain't Republican. Don't be fooled into think thing one party is for the rich and the other is for the little people. They are both for the rich with the exception of a few individuals.

2. There are no tax cuts. The tax rates will either remain the same or increase. Nothing will be cut.

What exactly are "core democratic values"?

0bama:"We are the ones that we have been waiting for. We are the change that we seek."

Self absorbed rhetoric and narcissism only goes just so far, until the 0-bots have a rude awakening to reality.

I campaigned for Obama and am disappointed that he has not been more forceful in supporting more legislation that I'm interested in, namely civil rights for gays: repeal of DADT, repeal of DOMA, Support for ENDA. He has not been forceful in getting support from the few Repugnants that might listen to him (and there aren't that many of them). We really need an LBJ personality so that these neanderthal Repugs would know that there would be hell to pay if they crossed him. I'm sick of the Repugnants who filibuster EVERYTHING and don't work at all for the benefit of ALL society.

The things that YOU want are not necessarily benefiting all of society either. It benefits a small percentage. There are more important things to worry about than those things. I think it's funny that gays say these things, but in the end it is ALL about them and them only.

I was reading your post and taking it in with an open mind.

Then I got to the part where you refered to republicans as "Repugnants" and you did it several times.
At that point I checked out and realized this was post was not going to offer anything other than biased rhetoric, name calling etc.

Too bad. Will we ever realize that when we name call and diminish people we don't agree with that it adds nothing to the debate and will never accomplish anything. If that's OK with you then keep it up. Don't get me wrong, I am guilty of it too with my libs and lefties. But just saying. .

so true. I'm just very angry right now. I called in to Sens Hutchison & Cornyn to voice support for repeal of DADT. it's always a futile effort in this State (Tex). I even called Sen Reid's office to tell them it was wrong to overload this bill.
I can't believe that the US falls so behind in certain things. I can't believe that we finally have a Dem POTUS and a nearly Dem congress and still cannot get ahead with progressive legislation. But I do think that it was cynical for Reid to load the Dream act and repeal of DADT onto this defense appropr bill. How is the Dream act related to the Appropr bill? He overloaded this bill by advancing things that don't belong in it. I agree with Sen Collins that it should have been allowed some debate so that the "R" could add amendments.

As to the other poster who says that gays are selfish, I wonder how he would feel if he was denied tax credits, right of inheritance, had to pay more taxes, couldn't serve in the military etc; if he was treated like a second class citizen.
