Get your facts straight... Reagan promised a one time and one time only deal, when he signed the 1986 reform act. How you left wingers forget history so fast, in order to push your never ending agenda.

The party of no ideas hates amnesty for illegals out of hand, yet has NO IDEA how to solve the problem. How about putting business owners in prison for hiring illegals? No jobs for illegals, they stop coming. At least I offer a solution, MOgal.

Enforce the damn law! How is that for being realistic!

Crooks and criminals will never in their lifetime understand that. Never. It is part of the uneducated culture, the illegal brings with them.

That explains the majority of the Democrat votes on cloture today.

Another clear reason, bills need to be stand alone and no attachments!
That bill had so many bad amendments to it, that it was doomed to fail.

Shhhhhhhhhhhh!

Democrats don't want anyone to talk about the details. They know those are all new entitlement voters. Amnesty for illegals via DREAM Act is the first step to ushering in a permanent Democrat majority via criminals who come here illegally.

The reason that all the amendments were added (24 in all) especially #19 was a Democratic ploy for campaign purposes.
Democrat catch 22. If Republicans had passed this bill they would have been voting against their constituency. However by it not passing it, Democrats can campaign that republicans are holding up the defense budget.
However it won't be told by the Democrats that the bill is not needed until after November.

Politics 101. If party A is afraid of losing control in the upcoming election because voters feel they can't lead do something to say that party B is hindering their affective leadership

Have they passed a 2010 budget yet? LOL!

I said arrest, not "Convince to leave on their own." That strategy goes to my earlier post: Throw business owners in prison for hiring illegals. Problem solved. They can't find work, because businesses would be stupid to hire them.

But of course neither party would fight for such a strong set of laws, because corporations pay for campaigns. Instead, rather than properly diagnose and treat the problem, we've been made to argue among ourselves about amnesty vs no amnesty.

Convince them to leave? I'm all for that. Start a hispanic witch-hunt? Boy, that won't lead to problems

The problem with arguing around racism as if it did not exist, is that there ARE a lot of racists who inject only hatred into the debate. It's perfectly reasonable to question the motives of those who clearly hate people based only on genetic destiny.

We can talk about green cards and fences all we want, that's how we have a debate, but every single time the topic comes up, racism rises up with it, like weeds among real crops. It must be pointed out for what it is, every single time, lest we begin to tolerate it, or worse, it derails the true details of the issue, in favor of slurs and finger-pointing.

Accusations of racism and xenophobia are not overused. Racism and xenophobia (and overall bigotry) are still very real in this country, and they poison our dialogue every single day.

I truly don't understand why so many ordinary Americans don't mind devaluing citizenship.

Because theve been convinced they are guilty of greed for living in the best country in the world. They have been trained to think this country is evil and gives back nothing. They are being convinced that the United States lacks the exceptionalism which has been our trademark and therefore citizenship is devalued. At least, that is my opinion. YMMV
