Here wing nuts, this is called an "objective source"......The CBO projected budget deficits going forward http://www.cbo.gov/ftpdocs/105xx/doc...te_Summary.pdf

........SO IN FACT, CUTTNG THE DEFENSE BUDGET ALONE WOULD ERASE THE DEFICIT STARTING IN 2012

Speaking of "misinformed", it is a deficit of $1.5 trillion, not a surplus.

The deficits projected out through 2012 are over $1 trillion annually. If we completely eliminate the military (which, of course, we cannot do), we will still have massive deficits.

I am a liberal and I propose:

Eliminating unnecessary spending on overseas petroleum and drug wars

Trimming or eliminating high dollar military procurement such as aircraft carriers and hiring mercenaries

Eliminate the entire gasohol program along with most the other agribusiness programs

Cut airline subsidies

Raise revenue by:

Import tariffs on off shored goods and services

Develop high deductable Income tax system to eliminated taxes on 90% and place them on the top 10%

Legalize drugs and develop a for profit government owned distribution system.

As noted in the OP, you will be a little short to eliminate the deficits. Entitlements are the 800 pound gorilla in the room that liberals continue to ignore and refuse to consider cutting.

It is going to take alot of cuts EVERYWHERE to address the hole we are in.

Oh, you are still proposing redistribution of wealth. Heck, it's hidden or obvious in everyone of your posts..
Do you comment for your health?

I read the first paragraph, and expected a withering rebuttal in the form of hard facts and solid argument. I'm open to differing opinions regarding social security, but you offer none. What is your point with this post?

As for "Redistribution of Wealth." This sad, tired, played-out phrase is so cliche and off-target. Redistribution of wealth began the moment our government formed. It's called taxes. It happens if you want a government. From tribal warlords, to the most developed and civilized nations on earth, taxes (redistribution) must be levied in order to operate government. The only other option is for government to simply own everything, and we can mostly all agree that's a very bad thing.

If 10% of your nation owns 70.9% (http://www.dailypaul.com/node/111232 - broken link) of the assets, it stands to reason you would tax them at a rate that takes into account the overwhelming majority of the wealth that they possess!

Should taxation (redistribution of wealth) be fair? Absolutely. Our current tax system is decidedly unfair. The wealthiest individuals pay less taxes, as a percentage of their income, than the middle class does. Tax loopholes (all of them) need to be eliminated from the tax code for us to have a fair system of redistribution.

But stop lazily tossing the phrase "redistribution of wealth" into every honest debate, as if it meant anything beyond the narrow sandbox of the right-wing propaganda machine. Go ahead and start the thread "Taxation of all types should be eliminated!" Otherwise, within the context of the current debate, regarding the most equitable and efficient redistribution program to eliminate our national debt, please bring your argument to the table and let us examine it.

Er, no. Hank Paulson and Goldman Sachs took care of the 401ks for themselves great job for them. We dont want jobs with benefits in the U.S. anymore. just want to keep Goldman and the likes of Bernie Madoff afloat. Thats all that matters, and all that will be left in this country.

Next election I am sure we will have the pleasure of hearing from a Rothschild as to who on the right we should vote for, so the raping and pillaging of citizens will be completed.

No they are not going to be over 1 Trillion, not by a long shot.

As this CBO projection clearly shows. They will be below 600 Billion.

Part of learning requires that you not lie.
