No. The only British Nationality Act that applied at the time of Obama's birth was the British Nationality Act of 1948. Obama was born a British citizen. He was not a 'natural born citizen' in the US Constitutional sense, as evidenced by Jay's letter.

Really? That's your attempt to make Obama Constitutionally eligible? That's just sad...

Even if that assertion were correct, Obama was still born a foreigner in the definition known at the time the US Constitution was drafted.

1. He was not born a "British Citizen" He was born a "Citizen of the United Kingdom and Colonies."

2. He never "automatically" became a British Citizen... he has never been a British Citizen. He "automatically" became a "British Overseas Citizen." And he did so as an adult.

3. Your claim that children who "automatically became British Citizens" do not have to register does not apply to Obama. He has never become a British Citizen automatically or otherwise.

4. He must perform an affirmative action to access the benefits of his foreign citizenship... just like every other country that grants citizenship jus sanguinis.

Read the UC Berkeley Journal article. Obama was indeed born a "foreigner" in the Constitutional sense.

No, they don't. They are subject to it but there are whole areas of the law that do not derive from it. The Common Law existed a long time before the Constitution of the US.

No. That is my proof that your assertion that he did not need to register was wrong.

Of course we cannot be certain of that since you are afraid to answer this question:

Do you consider "foreigner" and "alien" to be synonyms?

That all depends. Answer this question:

Do you consider "alien" and "foreigner" to be synonyms?

Hint: one has to be eligible in both cases. The connection is the comparison of the extent and thoroughness of the documentation used to establish eligibility in each case.

There are many different things that people need to be eligible to do. None of them are ironic simply because they share that feature.

Well there is that.

They are both equally thorough for the thing they need to prove.
