Its a very densely population region, so adding this neat upgrade will probably result in more ridership, and work towards negating the need for air travel between the region.

I just hope the fed doesn't shove out too much in tax dollars to back them up, because despite the area's current population, there is a very low population growth rate in that area. By 2040, there will be probably be places in the south more in need of federal assistance for high speed public transit.

People are either shortsighted or they have no idea how infrastructure improvements lead to greater economic growth and productivity. Many people have been indoctrinated to think "Oh no just another government project to use up my tax dollars".
