Just one week after President Barack Obama came under fire for omitting man’s “Creator” as the source of his “inalienable rights” — as described in the U.S. Declaration of Independence — he’s done it again. This time, the president was delivering remarks at a Democratic Party fundraiser in New York City, raising money for his party’s midterm election races

Anyone want to say he flubbed his lines again?

I'm more likely to imagine that his speechwriters did not want to offend those Americans who do not believe in God.

If the religion forums here are any indication, they're in the majority here.

Besides, isn't there supposed to be some separation between Church and State, and the government should not make any religious statements?

It's a tick of some kind. If the elephants do win big in November, it'll probably blossom into full turretts (sp.) syndrome.

What? It is written that way in the damn DI? How can you seperate that? Besides, you seem to not know what the seperation of church and state even means by that comment.

How sad that you do not care that the president of this country is trying to change what the U.S. Declaration of Independence says.

Then again Michelle Obama said that Barrack knew he'd have to change our history.

Remarks by the President at a DCCC/DSCC Dinner | The White House

And what was sustaining us was that sense that -- that North Star, that sense that, you know what, if we stay true to our values, if we believe that all people are created equal and everybody is endowed with certain inalienable rights and we’re going to make those words live, and we’re going to give everybody opportunity, everybody a ladder into the middle class, every child able to go as far as their dreams will take them -- if we stay true to that, then we’re going to be able to maintain the energy and the focus, the fight, the gumption to get stuff done. And it may not always happen in our lifetimes. And we may sometimes experience disappointments. And sometimes compromises are going to be made. But we know where we’re going.

Gee, he really blew it. He didn't have the "truths to be self-evident" part or the "Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness" part.

Or just perhaps he wasn't even trying to quote the Declaration of Independence.

It's actually a breath of fresh air to hear politics being discussed without invoking magic or superstition just to appease those who ONLY seem to care about that sort of thing.

Here's Obama's quote:

"And what was sustaining us was that sense that, that North Star, that sense that, you know what, if we stay true to our values, if we believe that all people are created equal and everybody is endowed with certain inalienable rights and we’re going to make those words live, and we’re going to give everybody opportunity, everybody a ladder into the middle class, every child able to go as far as their dreams will take them--if we stay true to that, then we’re going to be able to maintain the energy and the focus, the fight, the gumption to get stuff done."

So big deal. He's talking about the concepts, not trying to render the Declaration line-by-line. The concepts are: all are created equal, and all have certain inalienable rights. Where those rights derive from is not the point. I suppose the writers of the Declaration included the Creator line because they were sending it to the King of England, and basically saying their claim came from a higher power than the King's.

The specific rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness aren't even enumerated as God-given in the Bible.
