Wait a minute. This young man was engaged in an intimate act PRIVATELY, behind closed doors. Homophobes love the old adage "stop forcing this down out throats". Well this young man was trying to keep his private life private. Some douche bag broadcast his private acts to the world, and now apparently it's fine with you, but he should just deal with it. Incredible double standard.

Again, we all have a breaking point. This young man was obviously very sensitive...who the heck cares if he had "issues" about anything.

As said, this is all about the end of civility in our culture. Lack of care and respect about another human being's deepest feelings. Anything goes.

This is not a just story of a couple of University students acting stupidly. The perpetrators used an international stage for their "joke." Try imaging yourself in that position...how would you react if the very most intimate details of your life were on view for a world wide audience?
Overly sensitive is mental illness.

Say if one of the roommates were a vegetarian and the thought of meat made the person just crazy. Say if the other roommate brought in a steak, and ate it, and the vegetarian roommate jumped out the window?

Bill Clinton has the world discussing his genitals, did he jump out the window despite being a president, and not just a college student? If you recall, the description of his "unit" wasn't exactly flattering, it has even been depicted in a movie about Tony Blair..

Things like this happen all the time in life, not everyone kills themselves over it. The ones who do are the ones who are mentally ill.

Since the person who killed himself was obviously ashamed of his sexuality, and I'm not defending the filming of it, but would you have blamed the other roommate had he walked in on this, and the other guy still killed himself anyways?

You have basically now a society of people putting sex videos of exes on the internet or whatever, and in how many cases did the depicted person commit suicide?

The reality of this situation, had he been some religious figure who spoke out against homosexuality, and he got filmed in homosexual acts, the same people condemning this would be calling the filmers heroes for exposing hypocrisy.

Obviously, his state of mind is a factor, which then makes it on topic.
Still trying to figure out a way to make this into an argument, huh?

It's perfectly legitimate to bring up the possibility of mental instability. It's not right to put words into other people's mouths. Like you tried to do above. Since there was nothing partisan (left/right) in any of my remarks on this thread, and I never said that the young man's mental state wasn't on-topic. Your implication that I did say these things is off-topic.

Yes, and the ones who have no problem with this no doubt have the Paris version. Your scenario has nothing to do with this particular case apart from the words "gay" and "sex". This man's privacy was invaded. It's illegal. The end.

Mentally ill, or troubled, this young man chose to take his life, and given that he was a gifted young man just starting out his life, his choice was tragic.

The roommate also has to assume responsibility for his choices. His actions may have seemed harmless and even amusing to him, but they were in fact against the law, and they also were hurtful and distressing to his roommate. His choices in this matter will surely haunt him the rest of his life. A tragedy all round.

Something tells me had it been a conservative religious figure being filmed without his permission, you wouldn't be shouting about privacy being invaded.

The question is forseeability. Would a normal, objective person have killed themself over this? No.

So you're a psychic who can see into the future, as well as a lawyer, hmmm? You actually don't know what anyone would say or do in your imaginary scenarios, because you don't actually know any of us. You're just trying to use innuendo to discredit people. Not a very nice thing to do. Not a very good argumentative strategy, either.
